Tania Shroff

Founder & Managing Director

As a writer, editor, educator and social impact consultant, Tania is still reworking that 1-minute elevator pitch. The common thread between her work is clear: to use what you have to help. She started FairPlay to share the benefits of social and emotional learning with the next generation.

What did you hope to achieve when forming the idea of FairPlay?
“I wanted to explore how education could be looked at more holistically. By focusing on creativity, community and character education, I hoped to encourage value-driven students, with a sense of passion and purpose.”

Melissa AlbARus

Programme Coordinator

Born and raised in Hong Kong and with a background in PR and Advertising, Melissa strives to use her creative powers for good. Though she’ll never be able to figure out the correct pronunciation of ‘scones’ (hello, multicultural upbringing), she has always loved developing fun curriculums to teach children of all ages.

What’s been your favourite moment of FairPlay so far?
“I love seeing the international school students work with local school students to develop short skits. They learn a lot from each other and always have fun!”

Mila Devenport Ling

Character Education Specialist

The founder of the character education organisation, The Kigumi Group, Mila believes in strengthening empathy, self-awareness and ethical reasoning in children. She supports the curriculum development for FairPlay, with a focus on tracking impact.

What added value do you think character development brings to traditional education?
“Through my work with children and their families on character education, I’ve seen how it plays an integral role in personal and family growth. It’s about setting the intention to create meaningful moments, carrying students through their relationships with others and themselves. These are qualities I hope to pass on to my own son as he grows.”

Béatrice Hug

Creative Consultant

Béatrice is a multidisciplinary designer and creative who lives for helping people help people. FairPlay is a passion project of hers which checks all her personal not-so-guilty-pleasure boxes of doing good while challenging yourself and ultimately creating art with a purpose.

Why do you think creativity is important for the next generation?
“We’re living in a time where it’s easy to be grade-driven and outcome-driven, and all too often we forget the value in the journey itself. Fostering creativity counteracts that. The creative process teaches students to be patient, expressive and confident – all qualities we could use a little more of as we enter the world.”
